Case No. 07e0072
DAVID E. ROBINSON, et al, pro se______________________ Plaintiff v. CHRISTIAN
SCIENCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, et al______ Defendants
Exhibit CCC A Statement By Mrs. Eddy
When Christian Science is taught as a science instead of a faith, a theology,
or merely as a religion, our children will love it, study it as they do arithmetic,
and become practical Scientists. If one studies the science of music and of mathematics,
one does so in a positive way, in order that he may utilize and enjoy each of these
so-called sciences and its system. As one gains a demonstrable understanding of these
subjects, his understanding naturally corrects inharmonies or mistakes; but the corrections
are secondary. One does not study music or mathematics simply for the purpose of
correction, but primarily for the positive joy of understanding these important sciences.
This is equally true of the Christian Scientist, who finds that his study of divine
Science must be undertaken in a positive way for the purpose of knowing
God and the beauty and holiness of His creation, and not primarily for
the purpose of correcting the discords of mortal sense called sin and disease, although
this is important. As one understands divine Science and lives in accordance with
this understanding, the discords of mortal sense are bound to disappear.
