Case No. 07e0072

DAVID E. ROBINSON, et al, pro se______________________
Plaintiff
v.
CHRISTIAN SCIENCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, et al______
Defendants

Exhibit HHHH
Wrong Perceptions Made Known - Part One

1. The basic premise of the pamphlet entitled, Permanency of The Mother Church and Its Manual, is mistakenly expressed as "that which Mrs. Eddy intended."

2. The pamphlet states that, "She [Mrs. Eddy] founded The Church of Christ, Scientist, as a local church in Boston." Wrong. Mrs. Eddy founded The Church of Christ, Scientist, as a local congregation in Boston. At the dissolution of the first Christian Science Organization in 1889, there were 98 churches in the country (C.S. Journal of 1890), and just prior to the formation of the second organization in 1892 there were 210 organization. (CSJ of 1892). This showed a growth of 112 Christian Science organizations with no Boston organization in existence at that time.

3. The pamphlet states that, "Later [Mrs. Eddy] established the present world-wide organization, The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass. and its branches." Wrong. By the Deed of Trust of 1892 Mrs. Eddy provided a place where a congregation could worship, and styled the congregation that would worship therein as "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts." (Manual, p.132, para. 6). There is nothing in the 1892 deed about "The Mother Church."

4. Article 23, Section 2, of the Manual, p.70, states that, "'The First Church of Christ, Scientist,' is the legal title of The Mother Church." In other words, "The First Church of Christ, Scientists," is the legal title of "The Mother Church that is the congregation styled under the 1892 legal Deed of Trust." Whereas "The ecclesiastical Mother Church" has no legal status at all.

5. In the pamphlet, the Board of Directors indicates that The Mother Church embraces The First Church of Christ, Scientist. Wrong. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, may embrace The Mother Church -- or anything else -- but nothing embraces The First Church of Christ, Scientist -- but God.

6. Further, the pamphlet states that, "Under the jurisdiction of this Church, through provisions written by Mrs. Eddy in the Church Manual, she established the many needful activities of the Christian Science movement..." Wrong. "Boards of Trustees and syndicates may for formed by The Mother Church, subject to the approval of the Pastor Emeritus." (Manual, Art. 1, Sec. 8). This By-Law prohibits the formation of the many activities of The Mother Church initiated since Mrs. Eddy's passing in 1910.

For instance, the Department of Branches and Practitioners is not provided for by the Church Manual. And many other like instances may be found as well.

7. The bottom line is that, Mrs. Eddy discovered and founded a Science for the use of all mankind -- like that of mathematics and music, -- and not a material church.
